Urge Senator Bonacic to Support Marriage Equality
Sullivan County is in the 42nd State Senator District, a seat held by Sen. John Bonacic, a Republican who has been an opponent of marriage equality. As you probably are aware, the Assembly has already approved Gov. Patterson's Marriage Equality Bill, and it is now in front of the New York Senate.
The vote in the New York Senate, which may happen sometime in June, is expected to be close. Sen. Bonacic, while an opponent of marriage equality in the past, has not yet publicly stated how he will vote. But the Albany Project, based on a review of his public statements and past votes, has him listed squarely in their "No" column.
Please take a minute to email and call Senator John Bonacic, our Sullivan County Senator. Tell him you live in his district and hope he will vote in favor of Marriage Equality. Put in your email address and tell him that you understand that in the past he voted against it but now that a majority of New Yorkers and Americans are for it, I hope he would vote yes to keep in step with the wishes of his constituents.
